HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Zimbabwe, is a country rich in heritage and natural wonders that is a regular stop for most of our travellers visiting Southern Africa. Hwange National Park is one of the country’s premier wilderness areas and is renowned for its abundance of the Big Five that can be seen on foot and on game drives.

Where is this area?

Hwange National Park is located in the northwest corner of Zimbabwe, close to the border with Botswana and a 3-hr drive or short flight from the world-famous Victoria Falls. Its prime location allows for a seamless integration into any Zimbabwean adventure, providing convenient access for international travellers.

Why consider Hwange National Park?

Home to some of Africa’s largest elephant herds and renowned for its wild dog population, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest safari wilderness. This massive national park (14,650km²/5,657mi²) is easily accessed from Victoria Falls and is a year-round option, although perhaps at its best in the dry season (from August to early November) when the wildlife generally congregates near the remaining water sources. With 108 mammal and more than 400 bird species, the sheer size of wildlife populations gives it an edge over other places.

Your stay includes:

We accommodate our travellers at The Hide Safari Camp, a mid-range 4-star tented camp located in a private reserve (called a “concession”) within the greater Hwange National Park. A three-night stay is recommended, where you can fully immerse yourself in the special wilderness surrounding The Hide. Being located in a private concession means not being bound by the regulations imposed on camps located within the general area of the national park. The Hide can therefore offer guided bush walks and year-round day and evening/night game drives that can also go off-road if necessary. Some or all of these activities are not allowed within the national park. Visits to the camp’s namesake waterhole hide are also offered and the concession is not open to regular park visitors, ensuring an exclusive and intimate safari experience..

Why do we recommend Zimbabwe?

The country’s diverse landscapes, from rolling highlands to riverine valleys, set the scene for a truly authentic African adventure. The warmth and friendliness of the local people add a special charm to your travels.
